Basic Rope Rescue Readiness Course for Wilderness Search and Rescue (Course # 06)

Overview:
This provides the student with hands on training in SAR knots, anchor systems, improvised harnesses, mechanical advantages, hardware, software, belay techniques, packaging a patient for transport in a litter, ascending a rope, and other techniques to effect a litter evacuation, hoist, or hazardous terrain crossings sequences.

This course will not certify the student at a Rope Rescue 1 (Operations) level per the NFPA 1006 standards. It will, however, prepare the student with a very solid platform of readiness for the Rope Rescue 1 course while at the same time equipping the student with skills applicable to assist with rescues using rope, rigging, or wilderness hazardous terrain crossings. In addition, this course allows the student to evaluate if he or she wishes to further their education and venture into advanced rope rescue training before spending lots of money and hours only to learn they are not truly interested. In short, it allows the student to gain useful field deployable skills even if they go no further with their technical rope training skills.

Who should attend:
Persons who wish to increase their field applicable skills in the use of rope rescue techniques.

Hours: 8 hrs
